Competition Name: A Taste of Donegal on a Plate
Competitor Criteria: This Competition will be open to all 13yrs – 17yrs old.
To create a meat based main course dish of your choice using at least 70% local produce. Your recipe must also give a description of the dish and if you wish a story about the recipe (Max 150 words). You may if you wish include a picture of the dish with your submission. You must also name the supplier or producer of your local produce.
Please give consideration to the dish being a balanced meal.
Please submit recipe for 2 portions. Should your application be successful for Cook off Recipe cooking time should be limited to 30 minutes as only 30 minutes will be allocated for cooking of dish. As much preparation should be completed prior to the Cook Off.
Submit your application based on above brief using Official Application form to us by Wednesday 24th July 2013. Applications will be reviewed by high profile experienced chefs who will each score the application using the following format.
Marking Criteria will be out of 10 and we are looking for:
(1) Best Use of Local Ingredients: (2) Description / Story of Dish:
(3) Consideration of balanced Meal: (4) Innovation of Recipe:
Five recipes and individuals will be chosen to cook their dish live on Friday 23rd August 2013 at 4.30pm in the Festival Demonstration Area and compete for the title of “ Young A Taste of Donegal Chef of the Year 2013” at the Taste of Donegal Food Festival 2013 judged by Community Chef Brian Mc Dermott.
Live cooking of your dish on stage at A Taste of Donegal Food Festival 2013. Judges will be looking for the best execution of a dish based on your written submission.
The Judges decision is final
Prize: Overall winner will receive Title of “Young A Taste of Donegal Chef of the Year 2013”
